How do I import photos into Contents?

For office teams · Updated October 26, 2026

Use this when you already have photos of a project's contents and want them as Contents items without capturing them again. Photo import is web-only, needs the manage contents inventory permission, and appears when your company uses Contents.

Start an import

  1. Open Warehouse › Contents, choose Import photos, and pick the project.
  2. Or open the project in Contents and choose Import photos in its header. A project with no inventory yet offers it too.

Photos

Drop photos or folders, or use choose photos or choose a folder. JPEG, PNG, HEIC, and WebP work; videos and PDFs are skipped. iPhone HEIC photos are converted in your browser before upload.

Group

  1. Pick One photo per item, Several photos per item, or Several items in one photo.
  2. Use Group by time taken to join photos taken close together, or Each folder is one item.
  3. Click a gap to split an item, or select items to merge them.
  4. Choose Make cover on the best photo. The AI reads the cover plus the next three photos.

Details

Pick the Disposition, which applies to every item in this import, and Why non-salvageable when needed. Set the Room with Set later, One room for all, or Use folder names as rooms, and optionally a Department.

Import

Choose the Import button, which shows the item count. Keep the tab open until the photos finish uploading; you can Pause and Resume. Dropping the same photos again never creates duplicates, and items already imported are skipped. When it finishes, review the drafted items and print any stickers they need from the Labels tab.
